With respect to phd21, I appreciate the informative post. Just to clarify, I have Linux Mint 17.1, and the problem has appeared in all the browsers I use: e.g., Firefox, Superbird, and Midori. If you have any problems with this, let me know.īeacon wrote:I am sorry for the delay in acknowledging the two responses. Windows Media Player Plugin - via Gecko Media Player My FireFox plug-ins related to video and multi-media files Some of those plug-ins may already be there, or might be automatically installed by installing the programs below thru SPM, or you may have to add those from within FireFox or Google Chrome. When the list comes up, make sure you have these programs below installed and if not, right click each one and mark for installation, if you don't see one, then search for that file specifically and mark it, then click "apply" in upper left, hit okay for anything, then when it is finished installing these, get out of the SPM, restart your computer, and go to those web sites you had a problem with and see if they work now.īelow this list, I have also listed the Firefox plug-ins under tools, add-ons, plug-ins, that I have in my browser. Go into your Synaptic Package Manager (SPM) which is in your System Menu, enter your password, type in "flash" in the search box, and hit enter. And how can I get the video on another media player. I wonder why there should even be Windows Media Player on Linux Mint. From other sites, I get the message 'Widows Medial Player Plug-in 10 (compatible: videos) is not allowed'. Other times, I am told I need to update my video player, although I have checked and all are the latest versions. Sometimes I click on a video, such as one contained on a newspaper site, and it works perfectly.
